The Sony HVR-HD1000U is a Hi-Def camcorder designed for videoing the outdoors and indoor events.  The camera is equipped with a ClearVid CMOS sensor, capable of recording 1080i high definition footage on a standard MiniDV tape.  Other features include slow motion, the lack of vertical smear with the CMOS sensor, and the super Night Shot (uses a built in infrared emitter to record in).  It will also take a 6 megapixel still photo and records HDV native. It has a built in shoulder pad, 10x optical zoom, and a 4 Lux rating.
